Hosepipe Ban

posted 9 Apr 2012, 05:41 by Littleport Cricket Club Admin
As you are probably aware, Anglian Water have imposed a hosepipe ban.

There is, however, a clear exception for cricket grounds according to http://www.anglianwater.co.uk/environment/water-resources/E90894F6CB2546F88BFF82408F9B81CE.aspx:

General sports playing areas are not exempt, however where Health & Safety issues are identified the playing area in question can be watered, best practice should be adopted to minimise watering. Examples of where Health & Safety issues may exist are Cricket, Football and Rugby. Bowls and Golf would not present significant risk

Littleport Town Cricket Club appreciate Anglian Water realising that the safety of its players would be at significant risk if the ground were to be allowed to dry significantly.  We also recognise that Anglian Water may revoke this exception if they feel that the resources are significantly depleted.

Littleport Town Cricket Club will continue to be sensitive to the situation and will continue to use water responsibly.
